Wire reel Kayser Up dem Hecking

Industrial culture

#deinsauerland / Neusta POIs / Wire reel Kayser Up dem Hecking

Formerly one of 12 wire rolls in the Springer Bach valley and today part of the wire roll route in Altena-Evingsen.

Single-storey building made of quarry stone masonry with a pantiled gable roof, already used as a wire roller before 1738, later as a thimble mill, most recently for the production of wire drawing tools (drawing dies). The remaining iron waterwheel on the right-hand front of the building is a reminder of its former use; the interior is no longer there. The building was restored in 1996 and has been used as a restaurant together with the newly constructed annexe since 2001. About 200 m away is the small museum of the wire roll "Am Hurk".

Drahtrolle Kayser "Up dem Hecking" is an adventure site on the >EisenstraßeSüdwestfalen and an attraction at >WasserEisenLand- Industriekultur Südwestfalen.
