Wasserschloß Badinghagen
Badinghagen
58540 Meinerzhagen
The former Wasserschloß is a historic knight's seat with origins dating back to the Middle Ages. Nestled in a tranquil forest landscape, the small castle has a special, almost fairytale-like atmosphere. Its location away from major roads makes it a worthwhile destination for a relaxing walk in the woods.
The castle can only be reached on foot and is now privately owned, which is why it is not possible to visit the castle and park. Nevertheless, it is worth the walk: the harmonious combination of historical architecture, water features and nature makes Badinghagen a popular photo motif and resting place.
There are various ways to get here:
There is a parking lot on the L 323, at the end of Meinerzhagen, driving towards Gummersbach (after about 3-4 km). From there it is only a short walk to the castle. Alternatively, you can park at the Schützenplatz Meinerzhagen; from there, the path leads in the direction of Butmicke below the Meinhardus Mattenschanzen to the Wasserschloß.
