Upper basin parking lot

This spacious hiking parking lot is located slightly below the upper basin on the Dahlberg and about 500 m from the Sauerland-Höhenflug. The so-called upper reservoir is located nearby. The Pumpspeicherwerk Rönkhausen (PSW) has been stabilizing the electricity grid and balancing out the fluctuating demand of industry and the population since 1969. A technology that is becoming increasingly important as more and more electricity is generated from wind and solar energy.

If you park here, you should definitely take a detour to the nearby upper reservoir before starting your hike, as the dam offers a wonderful panoramic view over the Sauerland. The Sauerland-Rothaargebirge Nature Park's hiking board provides hikers with information about the route of the Höhenflug and local circular hiking options. To get to the Sauerland-Höhenflug, follow the road back. After approx. 500 m, you will automatically reach the long-distance hiking trail, which from here either continues to Wespert and the hiking triangle or down to Lenhausen.
