The team from the Burbach tourist information office awaits you in the Alte Vogtei. Here you can also find out about the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge Nature Park - or simply browse through the region's brochures over a cup of coffee.
The "Together Burbach" exhibition offers great insights into the village community, its origins and development. The motto here is: Coming together, working together, living together and growing together.
The Alte Vogtei - a place of encounter!
A LINK BETWEEN HISTORY AND THE FUTURE
In line with the Protestant church, the ALTE VOGTEI forms the axis of Burbach's historic village center. An architectural history study dates the half-timbered building to 1698. While around 160 buildings around it fell victim to the flames of the Great Fire of 1758, including the adjacent tithe barn, the Amtshaus survived the fire unscathed. The bailiff ruled and dispensed justice here for a long time. The office building was used as a residence from 1848. In 1979, the Heimatverein Alte Vogtei Burbach e.V. was founded with the aim of preserving the landmark building (a listed building since 1984). After extensive renovation, it made a name for itself in the region as a museum and cultural site from 1982. With a view to local development, the municipality of Burbach as the owner and the Heimatfreunde decided in 2015 to develop the building into a meeting, visitor and experience center. Since 2022, the ALTE VOGTEI, which has been extensively renovated and converted in line with its listed status, has been a central meeting point for citizens and guests of the municipality in conjunction with the Zehntscheune, which has also been renovated. It combines historical flair with the demands of modern village life.
