The St. Laurentius Ebbinghof Chapel is idyllically situated in the Schmallenberg Sauerland - a place of silence, faith and religion. As an excursion destination and pilgrimage site, it impresses with its simple architecture and eventful history. Today's chapel was rebuilt in 1915 from parts of the old court chapel. Its origins date back to the 13th century.
Its patron saint is Saint Laurentius, patron saint of fire-related professions. An altarpiece shows him as a martyr. Also worth seeing are the figure of Anna Selbdritt and bullet holes in old oak benches - silent witnesses to the Second World War.
The chapel is located directly on the village church cycle route, which connects numerous sacred gems in the region. A detour to the chapel can be ideally combined with a cycle tour or hike through the surrounding countryside. The combination of faith, architecture and scenic tranquillity makes it a special destination for those interested in culture and those seeking peace and quiet.
