“Blinker II” by Timm Ulrichs is a light-kinetic sculpture in which nature and the surrounding environment themselves become part of the artwork. A steel framework measuring approximately 10 × 11.8 meters supports 196 movably mounted, polished stainless steel mirrors. The proportions of the individual mirror surfaces and the entire slatted wall are modeled after a classic movie screen.
Light and air, sun and wind, as well as sky and earth, create constantly shifting reflections and movements on the movable mirrors. This results in an atmospheric natural spectacle that continuously changes with the weather and lighting conditions. “Blinker II” invites viewers to perceive the natural forces of the environment as a living component of art.
