Sauerland small railroad

On travel days between May and October, the trains of the "Sauerland Little Railway" roll comfortably through the landscape of the Else Valley and give visitors the feeling of traveling through past decades. More than 100 years of railroad history run here on a track gauge of just one meter. The Sauerländer Kleinbahn, pulled by a steam or historic diesel locomotive, was once an important means of transportation for industry and agriculture in the mountainous Sauerland region.

The Sauerländer Kleinbahn museum train sets off on certain days and takes guests sitting on wooden benches in the restored carriages back and forth between Hüinghausen and Köbbinghauser Hamme. Hüinghausen station, where the listed station building has been renovated, is the operating center of the Sauerland Kleinbahn.

The museum café 'Lokschuppen' is open on all operating days and the information store in the station offers an interesting selection of literature on local railroad history and other narrow-gauge railroads in Germany.
