The Himmelssäulen in Medebach-Glindfeld are a row of trees with 38 Douglas firs. The old giant trees are known as the largest living things in the Sauerland, towering up to over 60 meters into the sky.

About its origins:
At the end of the 19th century (1893), the Prussian state forestry administration launched a field trial and distributed Douglas fir seeds to the forestry offices. They found particularly good conditions in Glindfeld.
