The salt works have stood here since the 12th century, operating nine boiling pans and four Gradierwerks at its peak. The engine house and bathhouse were also built here.
A salt worker's star is embedded in the paving and a seal of the salt workers' cooperative hangs in the Café Blaubeere. This is the only remaining building of the salt works.
