The "Röspe" nature park hiking parking lot is located right next to the forester's lodge.

On the trail of water
The "Röspe" hiking parking lot is the starting point for numerous hikes and walks along streams, marshes and wetlands. The A 7 (7.5 km), which runs along the district border over the Hermeskopf, and the A 8 (7.2 km), which initially also follows the Röspe upstream and then runs around the Breitenberg, start from here. The A 5 (4.3 km) and the A 6 (8 km) take you in the direction of the Zinser Bachtal valley, along swamp and water areas. The latter circular route runs via Goddelsbach back to the starting point. From here, you can also join the Rothaarsteig trail "Zinser Grenzpfad" (14 km), which combines natural highlights with local history. Other excursion destinations from the parking lot include the Schwarzbachtal, a nature reserve which, once consisting of dense spruce forests, has been transformed into a colorful mosaic of rare forest and open land habitats through targeted maintenance measures. You can also take a detour to the Heinsberger Hochheide, the Dreiherrenstein and the Hufeisenstein, which is a reminder of the frequent disputes between the Sauerland and Wittgensteiner Land. TIP: Equipped with an MP3 player or smartphone and "Grenzgeschichten hautnah", you can find out more about the Hufeisenstein. If you want to find the Hufeisenstein and its history, leave the Rothaarsteig access trail at the "Hufeisenstein" hiking trail signpost and take hiking trail A 1 towards the Haberg nature reserve for a few meters. At the top, where a forest path branches off to the right, turn left after a few steps "through the bushes" to Kurze Dörbach and, with a trained eye, you will recognize the Hufeisenstein.
