Rittersprung Obermarsberg

There are several legends surrounding the knights' jump in Obermarsberg. One of the best known says that a noble knight was once traveling in the area when he suddenly found himself confronted by the notorious robber barons of Padberg. He fled to Eresberg (today's Obermarsberg) to seek shelter in the monastery there. He was surrounded by the robber barons in the dense forest. Before he fell into the hands of the scoundrels, he preferred to die an honorable death. He turned his horse around and jumped over a rocky outcrop into the depths of the Diemeltal. As if guided by magic, the knight and his horse arrived safely in the valley and escaped his pursuers.
