Embark on a journey of discovery through dark tunnels. Even the ride on the rumbling mine train is unforgettable. Underground, you’ll learn how lead and zinc ores were mined here until 1974. Things get really loud when the drill rig is demonstrated.
The exhibition in the historic, preservation-listed break room building tells you even more about the world of miners. Tools, machines, and sparkling minerals await you there. An exciting and informative experience for young and old alike.

An Informative Journey Through Time: The Mining Museum
Where did the mine director have his desk? Where were the pay envelopes handed out? What did the miners need the pipes under the ceiling for? From medieval pick and shovel to the large drilling rigs of the 20th century, the journey through time at the Mining Museum takes place above ground.
A highlight: the ride on the mine train
Put on your hard hat, and off you go—rumbling along on the original mine train into the dark Eickhoff tunnel. After about a 10-minute ride, the underground tour begins. Along the way, you’ll discover the massive underground double-drum conveyor, the blind shaft that descends 420 meters, the dumping station, and much more.
Nature and industrial heritage: the Mining Hiking Trail
The Ramsbeck Mining Trail begins right at the visitor mine. The 11-kilometer loop offers more than just great views. Forty-one informational signs explain how deeply mining has shaped the Ramsbeck landscape.

The mine train departs at 10:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 4:00 p.m.; more frequently if demand is high.

Ramsbeck can be reached by taking the R72 bus from Bestwig. The nearest bus stops are "Ramsbeck, Ziegelwiese" and "Ramsbeck, Kleine."
