The village is located between Olpe and Attendorn on the L 512 directly on the Biggetal dam. Thanks to the railroad station directly on the lake with the home port of the "White Fleet" of the Biggesee passenger boat service, Sondern has the only lake station in North Rhine-Westphalia. The beautiful circular trail around the Biggesee - whether on foot, by bike or on inline skates - offers pure relaxation.
There is a lido with a kiosk and adjoining campsite at the Sonderner Kopf.
