Laumannshügel and Mattenklodtsteg: Lippstadt oases with history
Excavated material became a popular meeting place
Created from the excavation of the shipping canal, Laumannshügel became the highest elevation in Lippstadt. Named after the local historian Carl Josef Laumann, it was a popular leisure spot for the people of Lippstadt for a long time. Children in particular romped around here and learned to swim.
The Mattenklodtsteg - a gateway to nature and art
Inaugurated in 1933, the Mattenklodtsteg provided direct access to the Grüner Winkeln. Named after the adventurer Wilhelm Mattenklodt, the bridge offered a breathtaking view of the Lippe and was a popular meeting place. Today, the footbridge also offers a unique view of the illuminated works of art of the Lippstadt Light Promenade in the dark.
