Hikes with great views
The A 5 starts at the "Lahnhof" hiking parking lot and is a 6.5 km varied circular tour that runs through forests and meadows and offers fantastic views along the way. First, the hiking trail leads downhill along the 590 m high Lahnhof ridge to the small Netphen district of Werthenbach. After a short, flat section through a meadow valley, the trail then climbs steadily through some deciduous forests back to the starting point. Not far from here is the spring pond where the Lahn has its source. This is not only a good place to stop for a bite to eat in the adjacent restaurant, but also the starting point of the 295 km long Lahnwanderweg trail. This leads in stages from the source of the Lahn, through interesting natural areas and past cultural sights, all the way to the Rhine. From the hiking parking lot, there are other access points to long-distance hiking trails, including the 70 km long, varied Netphener Rundweg or the seventh stage of the Rothaarsteig, which runs via the legendary Ilsequelle towards Tiefenrother Höhe, one of the most beautiful vantage points on the hiking trail.
The "Lahnhof" hiking parking lot is also a good starting point for the Lahn cycle path, an entry point to the Talsperrenweg, the Siegerland-Höhering or the Wittgensteiner Panoramaweg.
