The railroad water tower was built in 1923 in the vicinity of the former Krummenerl railroad station. Its purpose was to supply water to the steam locomotives that ran on the single-track branch line. The tower was therefore an indispensable part of the historic local railroad infrastructure.
Today, the former station site is privately owned. From the outside, the water tower is still clearly recognizable as such and continues to dominate the townscape. Inside, however, a remarkable transformation has taken place: The tower has been converted for residential purposes, combining historic building fabric with modern use.
Due to its technical and historical significance and its rarity, the railroad water tower is a listed building. It is considered a vivid example of the region's railroad history and is an interesting destination for anyone interested in industrial and technical monuments.
