Hiking experiences along the border to the Hochsauerland district

A beautiful hike begins at the "Fehlbach" hiking parking lot with the A 3, which first leads through meadow valleys into the "Rothaarkamm am Grenzweg" nature reserve with its large woodlands and numerous spring areas. You then walk a short section of the circular route on the Rothaarsteig, the long-distance hiking trail opened in 2001. You return through beech forests via Forsthaus Paulsgrund in the direction of the parking lot. With a total length of around 8.6 km, the A 3 circular trail is easy for families to manage. And with a bit of luck, you may come across a herd of free-roaming bison along the way. In the fall, you shouldn't miss the deer rut in Paulsgrund. You have a good view of the natural spectacle from specially prepared viewing areas.

Further hikes from the "Fehlbach" hiking parking lot:

A-loop trails: You can hike around the Saukopf over a distance of 5.5 km (A 1). The A2 (7 km) takes you around the 617 m high Windhain.

You can also join the Wittgensteiner Panoramaweg from the hiking parking lot or start the Aue-Wingeshausen circular hiking trail (26 km).

A slightly more sporty option is a hike towards Jagdhaus and the "Schanze" FFH area there, one of the 50 natural treasures of South Westphalia.

The hiking parking lot can be used as a starting point not only on foot, but also for the"Rothaar cycle route" and "Strong landscape - strong animals" cycle tours.
