Hiking experiences on the Rothaar ridge
Located on the border between Siegerland and the Olpe district, the "Oberndorfer Höhe" hiking parking lot is a popular starting point for hikes through rustic landscapes with magnificent views. The A 8 is the start of a beautiful 5.7 km circular tour, which initially leads along the Rothaarsteig into the Elberndorf stream valley valley. Rare and species-rich forest and open land habitats have developed here, where the nature reserve was once characterized by spruce afforestation, thanks to targeted maintenance measures. The trail continues along the Ferndorf spring back to the starting point.
From here, you can also hike over the highest mountain in Siegerland, the Riemen, to the historic Dreiherrnstein (A 7; 5.8 km), into the Hilchenbacher Höhenring(24 km) or Siegerland Höhenring or take the Hilchenbach wind hiking trail or head for the Hilchenbach wind trail. The "Goldener Zapfen" viewpoint, which can be reached via the quality tour "Krenkeltal & Goldener Zapfen" quality touris also a worthwhile hiking destination.
In winter, the Dreiherrenstein cross-country ski trailinvites you to take part in sporting activities.
