On the trail of mining history
The A 3 starts at the "Am Freibad" hiking parking lot and is a beautiful, challenging 9.5 km circular tour that first leads to the SGV local section's hiking home. From there, the route climbs steadily uphill via Rodenull to Kindelsberg. From the tower of the same name tower and an award-winning jewel of the nature park, you have a magnificent view far beyond the Siegerland region on a clear day. The route now descends via Martinshardt back to the starting point. There are several opportunities to take a break along the way, and you will also come across traces of centuries of mining activity, such as slag heaps and tunnel entrances. From the hiking parking lot, you can also join the 14 km long Kindelsberg trail which provides information about mining and nature with the help of 24 information boards, or into the Loher Valley which is a nature reserve due to its rich flora and fauna and valuable alder forests. In the immediate vicinity of the parking lot, you can also visit the bee garden or take a dip in the cool waters of the natural outdoor pool Zitzenbach refresh yourself.
