Grundlose - source area of the Lister
Willertshagen
58540 Meinerzhagen
To the north of the village of Willertshagen lies the Grundlose - a largely untouched moorland area with exceptional flora and fauna. Typical features of this landscape include bog birch trees and specialized plants that are adapted to the nutrient-poor and damp conditions. Due to its ecological importance, the Grundlose is a nature reserve.
Access to the moorland area is not permitted, both to protect the sensitive vegetation and for safety reasons. Nevertheless, visitors can still enjoy the landscape: A viewing platform erected by the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge Nature Park provides a sweeping view across the moor. In addition, an information board on site provides information about the special features of the flora and fauna.
The Grundlose can be reached via the marked A5 circular hiking trail, which starts at the Stoltenberg hiking parking lot. The route is designed as a circular tour and leads back to the starting point after circling the area, making it easy to integrate the visit into a hike.
