The granary was built in 1597 approx. 800 m from its current location on the Kreinberg.

It had to be demolished in 1937 due to the construction of a new barn with stable and shed. It was rebuilt in 1938 in the interests of preserving culture and local history. The municipality of Nachrodt-Wiblingwerde used the granary as housing for homeless families from 1945 to 1963.

The Wiblingwerde school set up its workshops there from 1963. From 1968 to 1969, the principal Korte used the granary as an artist's studio. In September 1970, the attic was made available for DRK youth work. In 1970, the municipal workers also moved into the basement and remained there with their equipment until 1982. From 1982, the granary was used exclusively by the Red Cross Youth.

After extensive exterior and interior renovations (2004 to 2006), the granary was handed over to the Nachrodt-Wiblingwerde Heimat- und Verkehrsverein e. V. on 24.03.2006. It is now open to the public: The basement houses a historic shoemaker's workshop with exhibits, some of which are around 100 years old, while the first floor houses a small school class from the 1950s. The rooms are also used for temporary exhibitions.

The top floor was used by the local history and tourist association as an office and archive; in the course of the new renovation (from 2020), the Nachrodt-Wiblingwerde association platform is to be set up here as part of a LEADER project and a small local history library is to be established.

The granary is currently being renovated again.
