Kirchensteinbruch - Interbedded Sandstones
This quarry is one of four quarries along the “Düdinghausen Geological Trail” and offers a window into Earth’s history. Here you can learn what cross-bedding is. If you look closely at the rock, you can see the typical cross-bedding structures in the Upper Devonian sandstones.
You’ll find the Kirchenstein Quarry above the village of Düdinghausen, in the direction of Usseln. You can reach the quarry on foot after about 800 meters from the parking lot on the L854. Alternatively, take a steep path uphill from the village center.
