Of the 20 defensive towers and 5 gates that once made up the fortifications of the old town, the witches' tower from the 13th century is the only one that has survived. With its 3 m thick walls and a height of 10 m, it also served as the town prison. Today, freshly renovated and opened for Frankenberg's 775th anniversary in 2019, it offers you a unique view over the old town. The spiral staircase at the back of the tower takes you up through the sliding door.

You can get inside on a guided tour.

The witches' tower is open from April to October from 9 am to 9 pm and from November to March from 9 am to 5 pm.
