Westig station, the only one of these stations to have survived unchanged, is a half-timbered building on a quarry stone base and has a variety of roof shapes. It comprises a two-storey main building and single-storey extensions on either side. The station was not only an urban landmark in the former street village of Westig, but was also an important hub in terms of local history, as it was here that goods were transferred from standard-gauge wagons to narrow-gauge railroads, continuing the industrial development of the Ihmerter Valley that had started here in the High Middle Ages. Traffic on the lserlohn - Menden line was discontinued in 1989 and the tracks were dismantled shortly afterwards. The town of Hemer prevented the imminent demolition of Westig station by placing the building under a preservation order.
The exterior can be viewed at any time.
