The Padberg Farm—an Important Inn of the Past
Located on the “Heidenstraße”—a trade route from Cologne to Leipzig that was heavily used in earlier centuries—the Padberg Farm, now known as Haus Ewers, served as a resting place for merchants, carters, and horses around 1800.
It was in this house that Henriette Davidis wrote parts of her famous cookbook, *Practical Cookbook for Everyday and Fine Cuisine*, in the 19th century and named two dishes after Küstelberg.
