#deinsauerland / Neusta POIs / Erlöserkirche Westheim
The Erlöserkirche Westheim is a remarkable place with an exciting history. Originally built as the "private church" of Fürstenberg pastor Wilhelm Schwarz, it was extended in 1954 to meet the needs of the congregation that moved in after 1945. Today, the church is a central part of parish life in the villages of Westheim, Oesdorf and Meerhof. Visitors can come to their senses in the peaceful atmosphere and admire the impressive stained glass windows with biblical scenes.

It was built in just two years as a "private church" - the few Protestants were out of the question as builders - by Fürstenberg pastor Wilhelm Schwarz. Due to the large influx of around 350 displaced persons from Silesia, East Prussia and ethnic Germans from Poland after 1945, the church was extended in 1954. Since then, it has been the center of community life for the villages of Westheim, Oesdorf and Meerhof.

The Erlöserkirche is an inviting place for silence and prayer. The stained glass windows with depictions of biblical stories from the Old and New Testaments are particularly worth seeing.
