The church was first mentioned in a document in 1250. This church was probably destroyed in the feuds on the Sintfelde in the 14th or 15th century. Until 1883, a former tithe barn of the Dahlheim monastery with an attached choir served as the church. The barn church had no tower and the bells hung in an old lime tree.
In 1892, the neo-Gothic, three-nave, high-vaulted hall church was built from ashlar masonry. The tower stands to the west and the building is covered with hipped cross-gabled roofs. The towering building is a landmark of the village.
