The increasing industrialization of Neheim led to the growth of the Protestant congregation due to the new citizens moving in, making the construction of a church necessary. The neo-Gothic church built of quarry stone was consecrated in 1862.
Christuskirche
Burgstraße 11
59755 Arnsberg
The Protestant Christuskirche was erected as a neo-Gothic building on the highest point between the Möhne and Ruhr rivers. It is made of quarry stone and has a slate-covered roof. The growth of the congregation made it necessary to extend the church in the years 1897-1899 by lengthening the nave and adding a side gallery. The three windows in the choir illustrate the resurrection of Jesus and were one reason why the church was named Christuskirche after the Second World War. After the exterior of the church was renovated in the early 1990s, an interior renovation will follow in the next few years.
