It was first mentioned in 1225 and has served as the studio and exhibition space of Soest artist Fritz Risken for more than 20 years since 1998.

Despite its secular use, the oldest pulpit in Soest dating from 1553, a baroque altar table dating from around 1620 and the early modern gravestones covering the entire chapel floor have been preserved. Unfortunately, the latter are not visible today as they had to be protected from further wear and tear by a wooden floor.
