Like many works of art in Bad Sassendorf, the Bonifatius Fountain tells the story of the town's salt history. It is part of the Sassendorf Salt Trails, a historical tour through Bad Sassendorf.
Here on Karl-Volke-Platz is one of the many works of art that depict the salt history of the town. Designed by Bonifatius Stirnberg, the fountain incorporates elements such as the boiling servant, the pea salter, the Gradierwerk and the salt basket in which the salt boiled in the boiling pans was stored and transported.
