The Anno Chapel is located in the oldest part of the Grafschaft Monastery—in the basement of the tower of the former Baroque church. The walls date back to the time of the first Benedictine monastery, which was founded in 1072 by Archbishop Anno II of Cologne.

Following secularization in the early 19th century, the monastery was dissolved and the church demolished. The tower, along with the Anno Chapel, was preserved. Since 1947, the monastery has been the seat of the Borromean Sisters. The community undertook the reconstruction and today operates a specialized hospital for pulmonary medicine.

The chapel contains a cruciform reliquary with relics of St. Anno. A medieval crucifix (copy) hangs above the altar; additional relics are hidden within the back of the figure of Christ.

A stained-glass window depicts “Christ in the Winepress.” The bronze tabernacle features a Torah scroll with the burning bush. The original was crafted in the Winkelmann workshop.
