From a place of worship to a fairground
Long before Lippstadt became a town, there is said to have been a Germanic place of worship on the site of today's Spielplatzstraße. Later, a fairground called "Spelbrinck" developed here. These slightly elevated spots on the edge of settlements were often used as meeting places in the Middle Ages. The people of Lippstadt celebrated their festivals here until the 19th century.
Ballhaus, Landratsamt and Bank
In addition to the fairground, there was also a so-called ball house on Spielplatzstraße, which was more like a modern-day fitness center.
