World Classical Music - Luiza Borac "Homage George Gershwin - Rhapsody in Blue!"

Romanian-born pianist Dr. Luiza Borac is regarded as an "artist of subtle but absolute mastery" (BBC Music Magazine). She studied in Bucharest and Hanover, won over 50 international prizes and was honored with the BBC Music Award, among others. Her recordings - including world premieres of Enescu, Lipatti, Silvestri and Kurtág - have won several international awards. Most recently, her recording of the Bach Goldberg Variations received top marks in the USA and was named Album of the Month 2025 in London. In addition to her concert activities, Luiza Borac is involved in numerous social projects and was honored with the Romanian Order of Culture Kavalier in Berlin in 2025.

Her current program is a tribute to George Gershwin. The famous Rhapsody in Blue was first performed in New York 102 years ago - a work that heralded a new era in American music history and continues to inspire to this day. The homage is complemented by Rachmaninoff's powerful 2nd Sonata, which also inspired Gershwin, as well as Debussy's impressionistic soundscapes. The poetic finale is Elgar's heartfelt "Liebesgruß"
