Romantic, subtle - and often very funny
A jazzy poetry program - or a lyrical jazz program in which poetry and music alternate, complement or join forces. The Soest trio Louisa Kimmel (piano, composition), Monika Hufnagel (recitation, vocals) and Ivo Kassel (double bass) combine music and poetry. Verses by Joseph von Eichendorff, Christian Morgenstern and Joachim Ringelnatz, but also by Dante Alighieri, Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoyevsky and many others are recited, sung, played a little and complemented by well-known melodies and own compositions by pianist Louisa Kimmel.
Monika Hufnagel and Louisa Kimmel have put together a program in which poetry and music alternate, complement or join forces, in which words and music undertake a lyrical journey through life. There are romantic texts, subtle, but mostly humorous and witty, sparkling little pieces of lyrical art, as well as serious and emotional ones, many well-known as well as some that have certainly never been heard before. The music performed also quotes various styles, including well-known jazz classics as well as original compositions by Louisa Kimmel, who has come up with a setting for some of the poems.
