One day, the somewhat unworldly Hortense enters Jacques' small wine shop. Immediately afterwards, events come to a head when the young petty criminal Steve storms into Jacques' store - pursued by the police.
Jacques, who has a particularly close relationship with his wines, is asked by Hortense to give young Steve an internship and thus a second chance. He agrees. While Steve turns out to have a real talent for smell and taste, Jacques also jumps over his shadow. Gradually, with Steve's support, he begins to embrace life and even love again.
