When a series of thefts shakes up the high school, young teacher Carla is horrified to see students in her class being searched and paraded in public. Carla decides to find out the truth and leaves her laptop camera running in the staff room. It seems proven that the mother of her favorite pupil Oskar, of all people, is the perpetrator. The woman denies it. Teachers, parents and pupils are torn, Carla's actions are controversial. The more the young teacher tries to do everything right, the more isolated she becomes. The desperate Oscar accuses Carla of lying and demands a public apology. When this fails to materialize, the situation escalates. But Carla does not give up on her pupil and fights for him.
"Das Lehrerzimmer" is a masterpiece of subtle intricacies. Prejudice, helplessness and the pursuit of respectful interaction wrestle with each other.
The feature film has received numerous awards, including an Oscar nomination, the German Federal Film Award "Golden Lola" and the LUX Audience Award of the EU Parliament.
