"A journey to Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht. To a time long gone. Stories of people. Crooks and prostitutes. Pirates and soldiers. They tell us their stories. They tell us about their lives. Their names are Polly, Mackie, Nana and Jenny. They dream themselves away. To faraway places. To the other side of the world. To Alabama, Mahagonny, Youkali and Surabaya. To Mandelay. And they all ask one question: What does man live on? And their answer is: Of lust and shame and misdeed."
It is difficult to pigeonhole exactly what the three Brazilians and the one actress have done with Kurt Weill's music. But it is clear to see that they are artists at work here, who have a great time adding wums, bangs and thumps, ahhhhs and mhmmmms to the sophisticated texts and classical melodies. A feast for the ears and eyes!
