"A journey to Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht. To a time long gone. Stories of people. Crooks & prostitutes. Pirates & soldiers. They tell us their stories. They tell us about their lives. Their names are Polly, Mackie, Nana and Jenny. They dream themselves away. To faraway places. To the other side of the world. To Alabama, Mahagonny, Youkali and Surabaya. To Mandelay. And they all ask one question: What does man live on? And their answer is: Of lust and shame and misdeed."
It is difficult to pigeonhole exactly what the three Brazilians and the one actress have done with Kurt Weill's music. But it is clear to see that they are artists at work here who are having a great time adding wum, bang and pau, ahhhh & mhmmm to the sophisticated lyrics and classical melodies. A feast for the ears and eyes!
