Mrs. Marthe appears in court to convict the culprit who broke her jug with the help of the court. Village judge Adam has quickly found various suspects - but what does he have to deal with in secret besides the court hearing with spinster Eve? More and more inconsistencies come to light. But Eve remains stubbornly silent about what happened on the night in question, when the jug was broken. So the search for the culprit becomes difficult, because "a judge is a judge" and his power is great.
