Parlor stores and shopping temples - shopping in the good old days

This city tour takes the group on a local journey through time. From Lange Straße to Lippertor, the twelve grocery stores, the so-called 12 apostles, which used to be part of the city center, are presented. It describes the everyday life of the traders and also reminds us that it used to be common practice for customers to bring their own containers for their purchases. After all, milk was still tapped by the liter back then, the desired amount of butter was cut from the block and flour, sugar or coffee beans were weighed out in bulk. Participants will also learn how paper bags used to be cleverly sealed without any other aids so that the contents could not get lost.
