The Goodman family consists of parents Dan and Diana and children Gabriel and Natalie. The family's life is repeatedly put to the test because Diana suffers from bipolar disorder associated with hallucinations. Initially, Dan rallies the family to help Diana and small successes are achieved. But Diana's deceased son keeps appearing to her and even the doctor treating her cannot persuade her to stop the therapy.
