On a leisurely hike through the forests and meadows around Grafschaft, nature park guide Markus goes on an exciting search for animal tracks. Like detectives, we solve questions such as: Who left their footprints in the mud here? or Why are there feathers scattered on the forest floor?
But the focus is not only on animal tracks: the history of Grafschaft also comes to life along the way. From the old monastery to the mystical Wilzenberg with its magnificent views and the mill pond, there are numerous traces of the past to discover. The area has also been the setting for a fictional crime thriller. As a special extra, we also get to know some wild herbs along the way.
The hike starts on 15.05.2026 at 15.00 at the parking lot of the Grafschaft monastery hospital (Annostraße 2, 57392 Schmallenberg-Grafschaft). The return is planned there at approx. 5.30 pm. Optionally, there is the possibility of a stop at the Gasthof Heimes for a cozy conclusion.
The hike is designed as a leisurely tour, which can also be experienced with an all-terrain baby carriage. Please wear weatherproof clothing and sturdy shoes. The hike is free for children and young people (0 to 16 years), for adults the cost is 5.00 euros per person.
