Marianne Farrère (Isabelle Huppert) is considered the richest woman in the world. But she doesn’t just have a fortune in the bank—she’s also quite intelligent, a beautiful woman, and exudes confidence. Pierre-Alain Fantin (Laurent Lafitte), a Parisian dandy who divides his time between the typewriter and the camera, meets her at a photo shoot—and from then on remains a part of Marianne’s life. This unexpected encounter gives rise to a close friendship that sparks not only admiration and amazement among those around them, but also a great deal of irritation. Marianne’s daughter Frédérique (Marina Foïs), in particular, is suspicious of the charismatic companion, whose relationship with money is as passionate as his demeanor. (France/Belgium 2025, tragicomedy, 123 minutes, FSK 12).
