Martin Walker's novels sell millions of copies and have been translated into 18 languages. His likeable provincial policeman Bruno has been winning the hearts of audiences and critics alike for 18 cases now. Walker, born in Scotland and a former journalist for the Guardian, lives and writes in Périgord in the south of France, the home of his popular "chef de police". This is probably the reason why Walker always finds the right words for the romantic idyll, which contrasts with the sinister crimes that Bruno is magically drawn to.
This is also the case in the latest case, "Bredouille": a successful businesswoman sits dead in her car at a picturesque vantage point above the Vézère valley. There are three farewell letters on the passenger seat and yet Bruno has his doubts as to whether the case is really as clear-cut as it seems. Doubts that could, at worst, cost him his job...
The German reading voice for Walker's Bruno is provided by actor and theater maker Till Beckmann, who is a welcome guest on "Mord am Hellweg". The evening will be hosted by journalist and speaker Alexa Christ, who has also been closely associated with the festival for a long time.
