Mishela Steiner's demanding repertoire demonstrates the possibilities of accordion playing outside the realm of popular music. It includes the Tango Nuevo with compositions by Astor Piazzolla and the New Musette in its wide range with pieces by Lydie Auvray, an artist who is still very closely associated with the classical musette, through the style-defining works of Richard Galliano to the complex interpretations of Franck Angelis. This modern French accordion composer is in the process of creating something completely new again with his breathtaking rhythmicity based on elements of jazz. In addition to modern musical styles, the artist's program includes works by Bach, Scarlatti, Schubert and Rameau.
Mishela Steiner, who has private connections to Warstein, was born in Zagreb, Croatia, in 1984. She began playing the accordion at the age of nine. She received her intensive elementary musical training at Croatian music high schools in Split, Zagreb and Pula. From 2002-2008 she studied accordion at the Hanover University of Music and Drama. Mishela Steiner took part in national and international performances (including in Venice, Castelfidardo, Paris and Antwerp) at an early age, appeared on Croatian television and won several awards at competitions. She has been teaching accordion and piano since 2007.
