MELANE & Band

MELANE (Melane Nkounkolo) is a Congolese-German singer, producer and activist based in Cologne. With a musical background ranging from gospel and soul to Afro-pop and jazz, she combines musical virtuosity and social awareness in a unique way. Her debut album "Mirrors & Windows" reflects her multi-layered identity and global perspective, presenting songs in Lingala, English and French. In addition to her recordings, Melane inspires her audience with live performances that focus on connection, empowerment and shared humanity.





MELANE holds a Master's degree in Culture and Language Transfer in Africa from the University of Cologne and works at the intersection of art, activism and education - always aiming to decolonize narratives and create meaningful connections through music and dialogue.





With her project "Beautiful Colours", Melane opposes racism, misogyny, hatred, prejudice and discrimination of any kind.
