The Japanese pianist Matsuri Yoshida first studied in Aichi before completing her Master's degree at the Cologne University of Music and Dance in 2024 with top marks under Prof. Gesa Lücker. She is currently deepening her education there in the master's program in chamber music. She has won the Steinway Prize in Düsseldorf, the J. S. Bach Competition in Tokyo and prizes at the Karlrobert-Kreiten and Chamber Music Competitions in Cologne. Concert appearances have taken her to Japan and Europe, most recently to the Haydn Festival in Brühl. She has been sponsored by Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Cologne since 2025.
Her program is dedicated to the quiet, reflective tones of music history: from Mozart's melancholy Rondo KV 511 to Mendelssohn's floating songs without words and Schumann's late songs of the early days. The program concludes with Brahms' Piano Pieces op. 118, which are filled with melancholy, consolation and timeless beauty.
