City Festival Friday

The City Festival begins on Friday, August 14, with the traditional tapping of the beer keg at “Thomas-Morus-Platz,” the square in front of Lennestadt City Hall (7:00 p.m.). The acoustic band “Born to Music” will provide the perfect musical entertainment. de.

City Festival Saturday

Who hasn’t heard of “Alexandra Palace,” or “Ally Pally” for short? That’s exactly the kind of atmosphere you’ll find on City Festival Saturday on the stage on “Am Rathaus” Street. Starting around noon, things will get competitive there. The “3rd Open Lennestadt Darts Championships” are taking place. Here, amateur and club players can compete against each other and battle for the title. The event has now become a staple of the City Festival. Registration opens on June 15 (https://www.stadtmarketing-lennestadt.de/de/lennestadt-feiert#stadtfest).

Music on Four Stages

Of course, the Lennestadt City Festival is also known for this unique feature: in the evenings, music for every taste is offered on a total of four stages.

Market Square Stage

Starting at 8 p.m. on the Market Square stage, the “D.C.K. Covershow” band, followed by “NonPlusX”—two Top 40 bands performing a wide range of rock and pop songs—and they’re happy to throw in the occasional party hit.

New Feature on the Town Hall Stage

Starting at 7 p.m., the local bands “DUKE Reloaded” and “Rockwood” will take the stage at City Hall.

“Altenhundemer Eck” Gets a New Look

If you prefer a more laid-back atmosphere, head over to the “Altenhundemer Eck” on both days of the weekend. The stage there will feature a new design and a fresh concept this weekend. The relaxed atmosphere invites you to linger over wine, beer, and good Essen paired with great music.

HIT Stage / OT Stage

Last year, the so-called OT Stage (on “Am Rathaus” street toward the HIT - Markt) proved to be an absolute crowd-pleaser. Starting at 8 p.m., art award winner MARKUZ WALACH will get down to the roots of blues rock and spice up his gritty sound with fresh funk and soul. Afterward, two musical DJ heavyweights will take over: first up is DJ “Dave Curtis.” “Carpoolboy” will provide the final highlight. The evening is organized by the Lennestadt Cultural Consortium and the Kirchveischede Youth Center.

Bus transportation to the venues

Want to get home safely after the party? That’s taken care of, too. On the night from Saturday to Sunday, buses will be waiting at the ZOB in Altenhundem at 1:30 a.m. and will take partygoers safely home on three routes (toward Oedingen, toward Kirchveischede, and toward Milchenbach) (fare: €5).

Town Festival Sunday with Shops Open

Town Hall Stage: As is tradition, City Festival Sunday begins at 11 a.m. with a joint prayer for peace led by six denominations on Town Hall Square. This religious ceremony will be accompanied by the Lennestadt-Kirchhundem Music School (directed by Christa Maria Jürgens).

The festivities then continue in the usual folksy style at the same location. “Die Gassenhauser” will kick things off with some hearty morning beer music. In the afternoon—perhaps over a cup of coffee and a freshly baked waffle—“Die Fenterköppe” take the stage. Fans of Egerland brass band music are in for a real treat.

HIT Stage / OT Stage

The popular children’s festival organized by OT-Grevenbrück will take place for the first time on the street “Am Rathaus.” On the large stage, the little ones can enjoy performances by clown “Francesco” with his balloon art and by “Deine Kinderband.” In addition, there will be the familiar arts-and-crafts and hands-on activities in the colorful mini-circus tents.

The absolute highlight at the end of the city festival: BOUNCE – the Bon Jovi tribute band

Starting at 6 p.m., it’s time for “It’s My Life,” “Livin’ on a Prayer,” “Runaway,” and “Bed of Roses.” Taking the stage: “Bounce – the Bon Jovi Tribute Band”—one of the best cover bands in Germany, as proven on the SAT1 Tribute Show. As the opening act, city festival visitors can once again look forward to the finest country music from “Siiri.”

Sunday Shopping

Retailers in Altenhundem are also actively participating in the festivities. On Sunday, when stores are open, they invite you to enjoy a relaxed shopping spree from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. In addition, market stalls, musical walking acts—such as the “Guggenband” from the Netherlands—and the popular wheel of fortune at the city marketing booth will entice visitors with attractive promotions.
