On Sunday, May 17, Westfälische Salzwelten invites you to International Museum Day with workshops and free admission.
This year, the motto of International Museum Day is "Museums uniting a divided world"! On this day, museums throughout Germany and around the world offer the opportunity to present their diversity and the broad spectrum of their work. The Erlebnismuseum Westfälische Salzwelten also invites visitors to rediscover salt in all its facets, meanings and uses.
From 11:00 to 17:00, visitors can expect a varied program that brings the multifaceted world of salt to life. The focus is on various workshops that invite visitors to join in and try things out: In the workshops, visitors can make their own individual soap and their own personal seasoning salt throughout the event. At 14:00, the themed tour "The history of salt and brine in Bad Sassendorf" offers exciting insights into the historical and cultural significance of salt for the region.
A special highlight: admission to the Westphalian Salt Worlds and the guided tour are free of charge on International Museum Day. Soap and seasoning salt can be made for a cost price of 4 euros. The museum thus offers all those interested the opportunity to enjoy a day full of interesting facts, creativity and fun.
In addition: bread will be baked in the historic bakehouse from 11 am. The volunteer baking team will be offering delicious bread tastings with butter from 12 noon.
