Chamber concert with works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Gustav Mahler and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy

The program begins with two arias by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: from and from . Both works are about love: Cherubino asks the fair women what love is, while Sesto assures Vitellia that he will do anything for her love - even betray Emperor Tito. This is followed by two songs without words by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy for piano, the Herbstlied and the poignant aria from the oratorio . At the center of the evening are Gustav Mahler's Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen, settings of his own poems, which he wrote during his time as Kapellmeister in Kassel. They reflect his unrequited love for the soprano Johanna Richter and clearly refer to Schubert's song cycles and .
The program concludes with the touching klezmer song by Mordechai Gebirtig.
