Buenos Aires, 1956: Josef Mengele (August Diehl), the notorious Auschwitz concentration camp doctor, lives in exile under the name Gregor. With the help of an extensive network of supporters and the financial backing of his family, he successfully evades international prosecution for years. Increasingly marked by illness, old age and isolation, his life becomes ever narrower.
