Buenos Aires, 1956: Josef Mengele (August Diehl), the notorious Auschwitz concentration camp doctor, lives in exile under the name Gregor. With the help of an extensive network of supporters and the financial backing of his family, he successfully evades international prosecution for years. Increasingly marked by illness, old age and isolation, his life becomes ever narrower. When his now grown-up son Rolf (Maximilian Meyer-Bretschneider) finally tracks him down, father and son have a wordless, oppressive encounter - a moment of confrontation with a past that cannot be shaken off (Germany/France 2025, biopic/drama/history, 136 minutes, FSK 12).
Film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Olivier Guez.
